Seeing how it is Friday and the perfect day for an aperitivo (happy hour), I think the recipe for an Aperol Spritz is a must. This is one of my favorite summer cocktails. It is refreshing, fun and colorful.
Aperol was created in Padova (northern Italy), in 1919. It has a bittersweet orange flavor and a bright orange color to go with it.
Here is the recipe. Enjoy!
INGREDIENTS
2 parts Aperol
3 parts Prosecco or sparkling white wine
1 part club soda
ice cubes
orange wedges
METHOD
Pour ingredients over ice and garnish with orange wedges.

I love it!!! In fact I love all Spritz… yesterday I had a Maracuja one..amazing! They are perfect for summer and here in Germany people love them! 🙂
I know! A Spritz is always refreshing! Have a great weekend!
Merci 😀
brava avec français!
hahaahah I tried… it’s been a while since I las wrote in French 😀
Merci beaucoup pour votre visite et de votre commentaire. Désolé …. Je ne parle pas français (wish I did) donc je dois utiliser M. Google translate
Hi don’t worry we can communicate in English. We use also sometimes Google translation!!;-)
🙂
Nice… thanks for this. I love a good spritz (even though it’s not the manliest of drinks!)
Well….I am not sure about that. At least in Italy. I see lots of men drinking spritz…but then again, the Italian men are very secure in their masculinity. Seriously…they carry around their wives’ purses, kiss their guy friends with they see them, wear pastel colored shoes. I come from a place where men have to sit a seat apart if they go to a movie together.
Ha ha… even with my oldest friends we might manage an overly manly handshake and pat on the back if we haven’t seen each other in a few years… none of this kissing lark! Maybe I’ll start my Italianisation with Spritz, move on to the pastels and then go from there…
Ha, ha, ha!!! Perfect timing with the saldi….I am sure you can find the perfect pair of pastels!! 🙂
I love Aperol spritz, but somehow it doesn’t taste the same when I am back in Australia. It is better when I am sitting at Bar Italia in Ponte a Serraglio.
I know right??!?! This drink is totally tied to Italy…maybe it does require a backdrop of a place like Ponte A Serraglio for the full effect.
Kathy will appreciate this – I just ordered one when we all went out and it got us talking about the recipe (I wasnt sure what’s in them, Cyn said she makes them) and how it’s a popular summer drink in Italy. Maybe I’m more sensitive to noticing booze coming from Dubai – but it just seemed like people were drinking them on every corner! Will always remind me of summer in Italy 🙂
GGGGRRRR Wish I could have been out with y’all. Anyway…..I know……it is TOTALLY an Italian summer drink….
Padova is my hometown… Thanks for mentioning that it’s also Spritz hometown 😀
Needless to say, I miss it SO MUCH. 😦
WOW!! I had not idea! Love that part of Italy! Love Spritz too! 🙂 Buona domenica!
Made them last night. Super yum. Was looking for something new
Hi Julie! YAY glad you enjoyed! Totally refreshing! Have a good weekend!
Oh I was just thinking about making this one! Such a fab aperitivo. I have just spotted a bottle of Aperol in the cubboard. This is going to be mine later…

I love this aperitivo… it reminds me of the happy years I spent in Milan!
YES! Milan is so big for Spritz…but also aperitivo…..one of my favorite things about living here! Thanks for the comment.

Hi Sohpie! SAME FOR US! Gosh! Feels like winter in Texas with the chilly temps and rain. Luckily right now I am in southern France enjoying some sun! 🙂 Maybe we will all get an Indian Summer! Cheers!
